MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Musco Sports Center will be the place to be on Tuesday, August 4, as the Muscatine Police Department hosts National Night Out 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. Families are invited to enjoy an evening of free, family-friendly fun, food, and community connections both inside the sports dome and outside the sports dome.
“This event is about coming together as a community,” said Lieutenant Ryan Buss, event organizer. “It’s a chance to connect, have fun, and build stronger relationships between neighbors and local law enforcement.”
Residents will have the opportunity to meet Muscatine police officers, firefighters, and other first responders while enjoying free food, games, and entertainment.
National Night Out is a nationwide initiative designed to strengthen police-community partnerships and promote neighborhood camaraderie. Muscatine’s event offers residents a relaxed, welcoming environment to meet first responders and enjoy time together.
“Most of us entered law enforcement because we care about the people we serve,” Lt. Buss added. “National Night Out gives us the opportunity to connect with residents in a fun, stress-free setting.”
Rotating locations
Each year, the Muscatine Police Department selects a different neighborhood for the celebration.
The 2023 event took place at Taylor Park.
The 2024 event was held near Mulberry and East 5th streets.
The 2026 event was held throughout Weed Park including free swim time at the Aquatic Center.
This rotating location approach supports the event’s core goal: making National Night Out accessible to all Muscatine residents and highlighting the diverse neighborhoods that make up Muscatine.
“We find little things to change or to add that make each year unique,” Lt. Buss said.
Parking and access
Parking will be available in the Muscatine Soccer Complex lot, Kent Stein Park, and a small section of the Musco Sports Center parking lot. Food, games, and vendors will be located in the parking area directly in front of the Musco Sports Center.
No registration is required – just show up, bring the children, and enjoy the night.
