MUSCATINE, Iowa — With warmer weather settling in, the City of Muscatine is preparing to welcome residents back to the Muscatine Aquatic Center at Weed Park. Parks and Recreation staff have completed the annual pool filling and are finalizing water-quality balancing and preseason maintenance ahead of Opening Day on Saturday, May 23.
The Aquatic Center will be open from 12–8 p.m., weather permitting. The facility will temporarily close on Sunday, May 24, to accommodate the 46th running of the Melon City Criterium, which takes place throughout Weed Park. The Aquatic Center will be back open from 12–8 p.m. on Monday, May 25, offering families and visitors a full day of Memorial Day recreation opportunities.
Parks and Recreation crews are also completing final preparations at Mississippi Mist and the Taylor Park Splash Pad. Official opening dates for these seasonal water features will be announced as soon as readiness checks are complete.
“Our team takes great pride in preparing this facility each year,” said Blake Allington, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor. “From water-quality testing to safety checks, every detail matters. We want families to feel confident and excited when they walk through the gates on Opening Day.”
“The Aquatic Center is one of Muscatine’s favorite summer traditions,” Allington added. “We’re excited to welcome the community back for another season of safe, family-friendly fun at the Aquatic Center.”
Summer’s calling, Muscatine — grab your sunscreen, your pool crew, and let’s make a splash.
