Dollar General Market opens in Orion
Customers in and around the Orion community now have access to fresh produce, dairy and meats, along with household essentials at the new DG Market at 1203 Division St.
The store features an expanded selection of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables, as well as the same categories, brands and products customers normally find at Dollar Generals, according to a news release.
“We are excited to provide Orion residents with our new DG Market format and look forward to welcoming customers to our new location,” Zak Brining, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development, said in the release. “At Dollar General, we believe the addition of our new Orion store provides positive economic growth for the community through the creation of new jobs and career growth opportunities; increased accessibility to affordable products; the generation of tax revenue and access to Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants.”

The store is expected to employ approximately 10-15 people, depending on the needs of the individual stores. Job openings are available online at dollargeneral.com/careers.

California Burritos in Davenport to relocate
The popular, family-owned Mexican restaurant, California Burritos, is closing one of its two locations and looking for another new location. The Mexican restaurant announced on Facebook that they are closing their California Burritos at 2960 E. 53rd St. in Davenport near Costco.
"Big news, amigos. California Burritos is relocating, and Sunday, July 26 will be our last day open at this location," the post read. "We're still searching for the perfect new spot to keep serving up delicious fresh Mex food, but our Bettendorf location is open and rolling burritos daily. Thank you for supporting our locally owned business. Come get your fix in Bettendorf while we cook up our next move!"
The Mexican restaurant decided not to renew its lease since both their restaurants were only five minutes apart from each other.
California Burritos closed their third location on Locust Street, Davenport, in April. The Bettendorf location remains open at 2207 Falcon Avenue.

Moore Caffeine, a new coffee shop, opens in Silvis
Silvis has a new coffee and energy drink shop in downtown. Moore Caffeine is located at 908 First Ave.

The family-owned shop has an array of energy drinks, inspired by cultures around the world. The coffee shop also serves hot and iced coffee from Ethiopian and Colombian beans. Moore Caffeine also has a designated stage and event space.
Operation hours will be 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

There's a new Japanese Steak House that's worth the trip for dinner. Omamori Hibachi Japanese Steak House recently opened in Prophetstown. The Japanese restaurant is located at 44 Grove St., formerly Bushy's Pit Stop bar and grill.
The new restaurant has a variety of menu items that include seafood, chicken, steak, burgers, ramen, boba tea, kids menu, and more.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and they specialize in catering, events, weddings and birthdays.

The family-owned American restaurant is temporarily closed. I-80 Cafe announced the temporary closure on Facebook.
"Dear valued customers, I-80 Cafe will be closed from July 19 through August 5 as we take a short family vacation," the post read.
"We truly appreciate your continued support and look forward to serving you again when we reopen! In the meantime, we’d love to see you at Sunrise Cafe, 111 S Center St. in Geneseo."
