ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Playing in front of a home crowd for the first time in 2026, Augustana men's soccer (0-1-1, 0-0-0) welcomed the Concordia University Chicago Cougars (1-1-1, 0-0-0) to Thorson-Lucken Field for a Tuesday night contest. Despite leading for a majority of the match, a second-half own goal by the Vikings led to a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes.

Lambis Fostiropoulos led the charge offensively, putting two shots on goal with one finding its way past CUC's keeper for Augustana's only goal.
Alex Sanchez Collado also put up a pair of shots.
Elias Banke was solid in net for the Vikings, stopping two of the three shots he faced.

How it happened
First half
Augustana got off to a hot start, putting up two shots within the first two minutes of action, but neither found its way on net. Another Viking shot came at the 3:25 mark, but was blocked. Augustana finally broke through less than a minute later, with Fostiropoulos potting an unassisted goal high center to give Augustana an early 1-0 lead.
Following another missed Viking shot, the Cougars started to generate pressure at 17:28 with a shot of their own that sailed high. Fostiropoulos came close to a second goal at 19:21, but a save by the CUC goalkeeper kept it 1-0 in favor of the home squad. The dueling teams proceeded to trade shots for the next five minutes, with Gabriel Daniel coming close to a goal at 23:27 that was saved.
Neither team was able to generate a shot in the closing stages of the opening half, sending them to the locker room with Augustana on top, 1-0.
Second half
Out of halftime, it was the Cougars who came out firing, putting an attempt on net less than four minutes into the frame, but Banke stood tall for Augustana, preserving his team's lead. After nearly 20 minutes of back-and-forth action, CUC got another shot off at 64:29 that missed high right. The Vikings responded swiftly with a shot of their own that also missed the goal.
After another missed shot, Concordia came inches away from tying the game at 72:30 when an attempt of theirs rang off the crossbar of the Viking goal. But the visitors finally caught a break at 76:45, when a free kick led to a loose ball in front of the goal line that took a deflection off a Viking player and trickled into the net, tying the game at 1-1.
Both teams mustered up a shot in the closing minutes of the game, and, with 19 seconds left, Caleb Kale challenged the Cougar goalie with one more shot, but the save was made to secure the 1-1 tie.
