ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings softball team concluded the 2026 season at home with two non-conference losses against the No. 6 Simpson Storm on Sunday. The Vikings were shut out 7-0 in game one before dropping a 3-1 battle in the second game.
Game one
Both teams were scoreless through the first two innings before Simpson broke through with two runs in the top of the third. The Storm added two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead, then scored one run in each of the final three innings to secure a 7-0 victory.
Lilli Burton and Marley Behm recorded the only hits for the Vikings. In the circle, Mya Brown pitched four innings, throwing 66 pitches with three strikeouts. Lauren Koster closed out the game, tossing three innings with three strikeouts on 59 pitches.
Augie held the Storm to just three batters in the opening inning, then struck first in the bottom half on a solo home run by Alexis Duke. Simpson answered in the third to even the game at 1-1, and both teams held steady for two innings.
