KANSASVILLE, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings men's and women's golf teams finished the Midwest Region Classic on Saturday. The men's team finished seventh out of 43 teams with a score of 590, while the women shot 633 to claim fourth as a team.
On the women's side, Lauren Reinertson led the team with a 15th-place individual finish after shooting 81 and 75 at the event for a total of 156. The sophomore highlighted the second day of competition with an eagle on the first hole, which helped move her up 16 individual places.
Lydia Hall followed in 16th after hitting 78 on round one and 79 on day two for a total of 157. On the first day of the event, Hall shot an eagle on the 10th hole to contribute to her 78 score. Madison Barnes finished 18th with round scores of 77 and 82 for a total of 158. Sarah Bond clinched a top-30 spot at 29th after shooting 162 with round scores of 83 and 79.
For the men, Alex Thery, Liam Shannon, and Vaughn Henagan were the top leaders for the team, tied for 21st with a total of 146. Thery and Henagan finished day one of the event even par after hitting 72 on the day, while Shannon shot 75. On day two, Shannon shot one under with a score of 71, with Thery and Henagan hitting 72 in the round.
Patrick McGrath clinched 28th place after sitting in second after day one with a round score of 69 to sit three under par before shooting 78 on day two for a total of 147.
The women's team will be back in action for a JV dual against Carl Sandburg, while the men travel to Iowa for the Central Fall Classic on Oct. 5-6.
