MUSCATINE, Iowa – There will be plenty of opportunities for Muscatine community members and visitors to gather, mingle, and interact in the final 10 days of August with a variety of activities taking place in Downtown Muscatine and in Riverside Park.
Block Party Class Reunion
The fun begins Saturday, Aug. 22, when a block party class reunion will be held on Iowa Avenue between Mississippi Drive and 2nd Street. Muscatine High School Class of 1981 and 1986 are co-sponsoring the event that will take place from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The 100 block of Iowa Avenue will be closed to traffic from 8 a.m. Saturday to 12 p.m. Sunday for event setup and event tear down. The No. 1 Alley will also be closed at Iowa Avenue to ensure the safety of the attendees. Traffic will be detoured to either Chestnut or Cedar streets during the street closure.

Cruise ship Serenade docking
Action moves down to Riverside Park with the downriver parking lot opposite the downriver boat launch closed from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25, for the arrival of America Cruise Lines Serenade. The ship will arrive Monday night with guests disembarking to explore Muscatine Tuesday morning.
Parking restrictions Aug. 27-30 in Riverside Park
The small parking lot on the downriver side of the playground will be closed to traffic Thursday through Sunday (Aug. 27-30) as three special events will take place along the Muscatine riverfront. The main parking lot downriver of the Iowa Avenue entrance will also be closed to traffic Friday-Sunday (Aug. 28-30).
Almost Friday Fest Aug. 27
Almost Friday Fest is back for their August event on Thursday (Aug. 27) in the grass field downriver of the basketball courts in Riverside Park. The small parking lot will be closed for this event.
HNI Hope Walk and Wellness Fair
HNI’s Hope Walk and Wellness Fair will take over the downriver end of Riverside Park on Friday (Aug. 28) and Saturday (Aug. 29). The parking area downriver of the Iowa Avenue entrance along with the small parking lot will be closed to traffic Friday-Saturday for this event. The Running River Trail will be closed Saturday morning from Pearl City Station to Millennium Plaza for the walk.

Calvary Church outdoor worship service
A very busy weekend wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 30, as Calvary Church hosts an outdoor worship service in the downriver end of Riverside Park. The small parking lot will be closed for this event.
Family activities including food trucks, games, and other outdoor activities will take place in the grass field downriver of the basketball courts prior to the worship service. The event will run from 4-8 p.m.
Another cruise ship stops in Muscatine
Parking in Riverside Park will be open on Monday, Aug. 31, with the downriver parking lot opposite the downriver boat launch closed again from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, for the arrival of America Cruise Lines Melody. The ship will arrive Monday night with guests disembarking to explore Muscatine Tuesday morning.
