La Michoacana Ice Cream celebrates reopening in Silvis
La Michoacana Ice Cream announced they are reopening their ice cream shop on Monday on Facebook.
"We know it's been a long year without your favorite ice cream spot, and trust us - we missed you just as much as you missed us!" the post read. "We're reopening La Michoacana Ice Cream very soon, and we're celebrating with a sweet treat on us!"
Lidia Gonzalez, owner of La Michoacana Ice Cream since 2020, will be serving real handmade ice cream on opening day, and the first 100 customers will receive a FREE Dubai strawberry cup.
La Michoacana Ice Cream will open at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.. Monday, July 6, and is located at 917 First Avenue in Silvis.
"Come bring your friends, family, kids — or just yourself support local, enjoy real handmade ice cream and Tacos al pastor made the original way in the Trompo!"

Operation hours will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.

Lucky Twelve, beverage trailer, acquires 2nd trailer
Lucky Twelve, a local beverage trailer and stand serving the Quad Cities area, has acquired a second trailer. announced on Facebook on Sunday, June 21.
"Exciting news, we acquired a 2nd trailer and are looking to break it in with some events! Birthday parties, festivals, markets, work events, you name it we have you covered!" the post read.

ManaFest Card Shop moves to larger storefront in Silvis
Kelly Gerdts, owner of ManaFest Card Shop, moved her family-run shop to Silvis. The new space is located at 2001 Fifth St. #7 in the Twin Oaks Shopping Center. ManaFest Card Shop opened in January and was previously located at 703 17th Ave. in East Moline.
ManaFest Card Shop announced the move Saturday, June 27, on Facebook.
"Thank you all for your patience and support during this exciting move! We can't wait to welcome everyone into our larger space very soon," the post read.
ManaFest offers a variety of trading card games, tabletop role-playing games and supplies. Tables are available for in-store play, and we host Learn-to-Play and competitive events.
Operation hours remain the same, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., daily.

Missipi Brewing Co. opens under new ownership in Muscatine
Walton and Carolina Ponce are the new owners of the Missipi Brewing Company in downtown Muscatine. The grill and brewpub, often called Missipi Brew, is located at 107 Iowa Ave. across the street from the Mississippi River.
Ownership has changed but not the establishment. The Missipi Brewing Co. has an Ole' time pub feel, popular for its weekend live bands and summer riverfront patio. The menu features American bar and grill fare, and known for their cheese balls and cold beer. The brewpub has gluten free, beer and cocktail menus. Click here to view menus.
The establishment has outdoor seating, dine-in and curbside pickup.
Missipi Brewing Company's current operation hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Wednesday, 11 a.m.-midnight Thursday, 11 a.m.--2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Closed Sunday.
The kitchen generally closes earlier than the bar closing times listed above, especially on the late-night weekend shifts.

The brewpub does not brew its own beer. On the Missipi Brewing Co. menu it says they were established in a time before the age of microbreweries. "While we continue to serve our patrons their favorite beers we look to find locally made brew from Iowa and Illinois to rotate through our 24 tap selections. There's always a new beer to try at the brew according!" according to their menu.
The Missipi Brewing Company was first established in 1980.

Golden Corral Buffet & Grill in Davenport to close
A popular, all-you-can-eat Davenport restaurant is permanently closing.
The Davenport Golden Corral Buffet & Grill’s last day of operation will be Monday, July 6, according to manager Jackie Thompson.
The restaurant is located at 5202 Elmore Ave. in Davenport.
Gift cards can still be used at the Davenport location or any other Golden Corral Buffet & Grill.
Monday's last day of operation will be from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. They will still have Kids' Nights for $3.99, from 4-9 p.m., which includes a kids buffet and beverage. There's also an Early Bird Senior Special from 1-4 p.m., for ages 60+ for $11.99.
Golden Corral Buffet & Grill has been serving the Quad-Cities since 1998 at the same location.
