Louie Larson, an almost 7-year-old French bulldog, attended his first-ever Quad-City Times Bix 7 on Saturday and was so excited he couldn't keep his mouth closed.

His tongue and slobber could almost have been a slipping hazard to runners as they passed his smiling self on the turnaround. His mother, 35-year-old Taylor, is a former Bix 7 participant.
She said this year, it was his turn. While Louie did not run this time — pets are not allowed in the race — he is eager to watch next year's race.
Back from knee surgery
Piper Chiles returned to the Bix 7 this Saturday for her eighth annual Bix 7, but this time, new and improved.

Chiles recently got knee surgery and has two new knees. While she is still recovering from surgery, Piper was there to bark on for her fellow furry friends and race runners.
Twelve-year-old Bentley Bush came with his owners, Lorena and Mike Bush, to cheer on Quad-City Times Bix 7 runners for the 52nd annual race this Saturday morning.
Lorena Bush said Bentley is currently training for the 53rd annual Bix 7 in 2027. This year was his ninth Bix 7, so he was already preparing for his 10th annual race.
"Next year is his year!" Bush said with a chuckle.
Visitors from Kansas City
Corrie Willoughby and her son's dog, Jake, came all the way from Kansas City to see Willoughby’s husband and son race in the Quad-City Times Bix 7 race.
Adopted in 2020, Jake loves people and is a good listener, but "hard on the leash." Willoughby hoped he would be calm throughout the race but said he would probably get excited when her son crossed the finish line.
Either way, Jake was probably going to be napping when the race is over, Willoughby said.
Kelsey Allbaugh beats the elite and wins $2,500 at Quac-City Times Bix 7
All she did was run the 7-mile course in 54 minutes, 17 seconds to win the women’s 65-69 age group by a margin of about 6 ½ minutes.
