Nicholas Patrick took the Boys' 18U singles title at Monday and Tuesday's Quad States Jr. Open, holding off second-seeded Jake Dolphin to 6-4, 6-4 at Bettendorf High School.
Patrick, a five-star tennis recruit and unseeded 12-year-old from Coal Valley, defeated Aaron Ingram 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals.
He and Aditya Paravasthuramesh also paired to take the Boys' 18U Doubles title on Monday with a 9-8(8) win over the top-seeded pair of Dolphin and Dylan Wiemers.
Ingram bested top-seeded Bhanu Pujari 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. Dolphin defeated Charlie Fair 6-3, 6-3 in the other semifinal following a 7-5, 6-0 win over Wiemers in the quarterfinals.
Wiemers went on to win the consolation bracket with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the finals over Dylan Fair.
Patrick's win comes a week after four straight consolation wins resulted in a Boys' 12U ninth-place finish at a USTA National Level 2 Tournament in Grand Rapids, Mich.
