Prep baseball

E-P 6, Sherrard 1: Harrison Ames went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and led the charge for the Panthers against the Tigers. Travis Coleman went 4-for-4 for E-P with an RBI and three runs. Panther pitchers Clayton Johnson and Josh Hammer held Sherrard to just three hits and combined for eight strikeouts. Brady Hartman had 10 strikeouts on the mound for Sherrard.

Mercer County 5, Annawan-Wethersfield 2: The Golden Eagles allowed just two hits on the road against the Titans. Evan Ott pitched six innings for Mercer County and racked up 10 strikeouts. Max Santiago came in for an inning of relief and struck out one. Titans pitchers combined for nine strikeouts with Nolan Cone getting six and Eli Merrick striking out three.

United 22, Midland 2 (4): The Red Storm scored 13 runs in the first inning to take down Midland in four innings. Declan Flynn received the pitching win for United, only allowing seven hits. The Red Storm had 16 hits in the contest and Midland committed seven errors.

ROWVA-Williamsfield 17, Farmington 0 (5): Tucker Sams went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs in the Courgars win over Farmington. Dane Libby pitched five innings for ROWVA-W as he struck out seven and only allowed one hit. Logan Kuberski went 3-for-4 for the Cougars with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored. 

Prep girls' soccer

Orion-Sherrard 9, Galesburg 0: Orion-Sherrard scored four goals in the first six minutes to defeat Galesburg. Carsyn McCunn scored in the first 13 seconds with an assist from Jamie Abbott. Abbott assisted on the next three goals scored by Gabby Sharer, Lily Moen and Hailey James. O-S led the Silver Streaks 8-0 at halftime, before Galesburg scored an own goal in the second half. O-S moves to 16-3-1 on the season.

Wheaton-Warrenville South 4, United Township 1: Wheaton-Warrenville South outshot the Panthers in its victory 18-4. Olivia Davila scored the lone UT goal in the 18th minute with an assist from Aria Fix. Allison Mirimanian stopped seven Wheaton shots in net.

Prep softball

Rockridge 25, Princeton 5 (5): Amelia Thomas hit two home runs and had four hits with seven RBIs in the Rockets five inning win over Princeton. Becca Schroeder also hit a home run for Rockridge and had two hits in the contest. Lexi Hines received the win and moves to 6-0 on the season. The Rockets move to 18-4 on the season and 8-0 in the Three Rivers conference.

Kewanee 14, Morrison 4: Josie DeBord went 2-for-3 for the Boilermakers with three RBIs and three runs scored and a home run in their victory over the Mustangs. Kendall Bennison was in the circle for Kewanee for four innings and struck out six and went 1-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. Hanna Linder went 1-for 2 with two RBIs for Morrison.

College women's tennis

Augustana 5, North Central 0: The Vikings win all of their matches against North Central in the semifinals of the CCIW Automatic Qualifier Tournament. Augustana advanced to play the winner of Carthage and Wheaton in the finals for an NCAA tournament bid. Caitlyn Schaffer won her match against Diana Barcelata 6-0, 6-1 and then joined forces with Madeline Lombardi to take down Alaina Kanthaphixay and Katie McGraw 8-4. Augustana moves to 18-5 on the season and 8-0 in CCIW play.
