Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt participated in team drills for first time in three days after demanding a trade. Hunt is the final year of a two-year, $12 million deal he signed two years ago, but is asking for a long-term extension. The 27-year-old has been productive during his three seasons for Cleveland. But he missed nine games last season with calf and ankle injuries. Hunt was not made available to speak with the media.
Dehydration is one of the biggest concerns during football camps in the summer, and the New York Giants saw its effects on new center Jon Feliciano. The 30-year-old veteran developed dehydration on the second day of practice and missed four days. The former Buffalo Bill talked about the incident Sunday for the first time. He said the dehydration set in after practice. He went into a cool tub immediately and went for an IV, but the medical personnel had trouble finding one. Cramping ensued and the pain was so intense, he did a lot of screaming.
Tennessee rookie quarterback Malik Willis made a business decision when he found himself facing off against Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons in a live tackle drill at training camp. Willis went straight to the ground. Willis said Sunday he wasn't going to get hit by Simmons. Other NFL quarterbacks don’t have that luxury against a lineman coming off his best season. Simmons had a career-high 8 1/2 sacks in his third NFL season. He then set a franchise playoff record with three more in the Titans' divisional loss. Simmons switched agents this summer prompting worries he might want a new deal. Simmons reported for training camp on time and says he's only trying to improve.
