One problem in Washington D.C. is that our elected politicians have no idea of what it is like to be poor or even middle class. I doubt that they have ever struggled to keep their families fed and sheltered because they are wealthy.
There are no poor politicians in Washington. How can they identify with the majority of Americans when they have never experienced what we face every day?
