David J. Gleason, 59, of Hennepin, Ill., passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, 2011, in Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton, Ill.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel, Granville, Ill. A time of remembrance will be held at noon. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Hennepin.
Pallbearers will be Jason Arellano, John Walker, Adam Sondgeroth, Robert Noy, Ricky Reynolds and Joseph Kurrle. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
David was born March 10, 1952, in LaSalle, Ill., the son of Robert and Betty Speraw Gleason. He graduated Putnam County High School and attended Sewanee University in Tennessee, where he received a degree in forestry.
David worked as a custodian for Dimmick School and loved the friendships he made while employed there.
Dave was a student of life, and found his education through his love of reading, music and nature.
Mr. Gleason will be remembered by numerous friends and family as a loving father to a son, John Walker, Hennepin; and five daughters, Michele Walker and Linda Reynolds, both of Hennepin, Amy Sondgeroth, Troy Grove, Ill., Melanie Gleason, Davenport, and Abby Arellano, Spring Valley, Ill. One brother, Bruce Schermerhorn, Deerfield, Ill; and 11 grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his friend, "Doc."
