Floreciente

Habitat For Humanity kicked off a three- to five-year commitment to the Floreciente neighborhood in September 2016 with "Rock the Block Floreciente," a single workday in which volunteers — including 200 from Deere & Co. — spread out over the neighborhood and completed more than 30 home projects involving home repairs, siding, roofing, yard cleanups and general cleanup.

MOLINE — A National Neighborhood Promise work day has been scheduled for today in the Floreciente neighborhood.

According to a press release, employees of Republic Services, a recycling company, and Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities will join residents to make exterior improvements to 10 properties along 4th Avenue between 4th and 5th streets. Projects will include fence painting, porch and foundation painting, yard cleanups, and sidewalk maintenance.

Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities was awarded a $40,000 National Neighborhood Promise grant from the Republic Services Charitable Foundation, which will support the continuation of the Rock the Block improvement project in the Floreciente neighborhood, the release said.
