PORT BYRON — Strada Communications LLC got the go-ahead Tuesday night to install, operate and maintain Fiber Optic Cable within the village.
“We will begin digging on the south end of town March 12, and work our way out to the school.” Scott Strada, representing the company, told the Village Board.
The agreement authorizes Strada to provide telecommunications and related services except those that may infringe upon agreements with cable companies within the village.

The board was told that Strada will be in compliance with all local, state, and federal ordinances, statutes, laws, rules and regulations. All construction will be performed within a right of way easement and meet village excavation ordinances and permit requirements.
In other business:
- An ordinance prohibiting sexual harassment was passed.
- Trustee Dustin Sloan announced that Port Byron residents and those in neighboring communities can immediately begin to receive pertinent information via text messaging, email and web by registering at www.nixie.com. “There is an App available at the site. Messages may include boil orders, street closures.etc. as well as other relevant safety and community event information,” Mr. Sloan said.
- Budget meetings will begin at noon Jan. 12 and continue each Monday until the budget is complete.
