St. Ambrose University said the university has changed in the time that Sister Joan Lescinski has been president. On Tuesday, she announced her intention to retire in August 2021. She has been the university president since 2007.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • The addition of a number of degree programs, including the Master of Physician Assistant Studies and the Bachelor of Arts in Business and Healthcare Sales.
  • An expansion of athletic offerings and facilities, including 11 varsity programs and the $21.5 million, 80,000-square-foot Wellness and Recreation Center. The center was the largest capital project in SAU history.
  • Other capital projects include the renovation of Ambrose Hall’s exterior, new residence halls, and the expansion and renovation of McMullen Hall to provide an updated space for the College of Business.
  • Since 2007, the SAU endowment has increased from $40 million to $170 million.
