GENESEO — The Community Choir will feature 144 voices at their 11th annual concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the Fine Arts Facility at Geneseo High School, 700 North State St.

“The Best of 10” is the theme of the concert, which includes the 48 member Children’s Choir, who will present songs by themselves as well as with the Community Choir. This year’s theme is a trip down memory lane of songs from the last 10 concerts of the Community Choir.

Pam Edwards is the director of the Community Choir and co-director of the Children’s Choir with Alesha Gierhart, Hannah Johnson, assisted by Madison Miller.

Lynne Haars is the accompanist for the Community Choir.

The two choirs will join forces to sing “How Can I Keep from Singing,” “Africa,” and “Circle of Life.”

The Children’s Choir will be featured performing “J’Entends Le Moulin,” “When I Close My Eyes,” and “Menagerie of Songs.”

David and Dale Smith of Smith Studio & Gallery in downtown Geneseo assisted the children’s choir in helping them make headdresses for their presentation of “Circle of Life.”

Members of the Community Choir will perform “Amazing Grace,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” “Choose Something Like a Star,” “Bring Me Little Water, Silvy,” “Masquerade,” “Ticket to Ride,” and “If Music Be the Food Of Love.”

Vocal solos and ensembles, instrumental soloists and dancers will be featured in both the community choir and the children’s choir.

“What is so unique about this year is that we have participants from as far away as Colorado and Schaumburg and the surrounding areas,” Edwards said. “They are former students of mine and I am so pleased to have them and their children singing with us this year.”

Admission to the concert is $5 for each person. Anyone interested in donating to the Community Choir Scholarship Endowment Fund may send their gifts to Quad Cities Community Foundation, 852 Middle Rd., Suite 100, Bettendorf, Iowa, 52722.
