Cambria Hotel planned in Bettendorf

BETTENDORF — A new Cambria Hotel is planned at the TBK Bank Sports Complex under development in Bettendorf.

Frontier Hospitality Group of Davenport will develop and operate the 112-room hotel at the sports complex at Middle Road and Interstate 80. Construction is planned in the second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019.

Plans for the hotel include a state-of-the-art fitness center, multi-function meeting space and contemporary onsite dining. The hotel — the Frontier’s first hotel project with Choice International and the Cambria Hotel brand — will anchor commercial development surrounding the TBK Bank Sports Complex.

“We are pleased to be a part of this dynamic new development,” said Dan Huber, CEO/co-owner of Frontier Hospitality Group. “Cambria offers a tremendous product that guests love, and we’re thrilled to add this great brand to our portfolio.

“The hotel prototype is very eye-appealing and it fits the bill for not only the sports teams and their families, but also the Quad-City-bound business traveler,” he said.

The project represents a new collaboration between Frontier; Choice; Douglas Kratz, owner and developer of the TBK Bank Sports Complex; and Kevin Koellner, owner of Build To Suit.

“We are fortunate to have partners who had the foresight to activate this major interchange with a vision so compelling it will draw thousands and thousands of people to the Quad-Cities,” Mr. Huber said.

The $50 million, 75-acre TBK Bank Sports Complex development includes a 6-acre indoor facility and state-of-the art artificial turf baseball and softball diamonds and soccer fields, as well as sand volleyball courts.

The indoor complex will feature basketball courts, the only publicly available indoor soccer field in Iowa, a state-of-the-art fitness center and physical therapy and training offerings. It also will include the High Five Lanes & Games offering a two-story, 32-lane bowling alley, laser tag, an arcade, escape rooms, a restaurant/bar and meeting space.

Frontier Hospitality Group — co-owned by Mr. Huber and Bart T. Baker — was founded by Mr. Baker’s family in 1950. Mr. Huber is the former CEO of DavenportOne; he and Mr. Baker have co-owned Frontier since 2007. Together with their partners they own and operate the Holiday Inn Express in Moline at the Quad Cities International Airport, the Best Western Steeplegate Inn in Davenport, the Holiday Inn Express in East Peoria, the Best Western Plus Dubuque Hotel and Conference Center in Dubuque, Iowa, and Champps Americana Restaurant & Bar located in Dubuque.
