EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) -- A junior college teacher fatally shot his wife and then himself in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.
Olin McDonald, 29, who taught history and literature at Metropolitan Community College, argued with his wife Monday night at the home of his mother, where the couple had been living.
Police found the McDonalds bleeding from the head on the bathroom floor and a .32 caliber handgun lying next to them.
St. Clair County Coroner Rick Stone pronounced Ramonna McDonald, 26, dead at the scene. Her husband was pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital, officials said.

The McDonalds, who were married in 1993, leave behind a son and a daughter.
Several people who saw Olin McDonald on Monday detected nothing wrong.
``He's a teacher's teacher,'' said Donald Dowl, a colleague of McDonald at the junior college. ``He cared for the students.''
McDonald is the second MCC teacher in two years to die violently. In July 1997, Wayne Van Grunsven was stabbed to death in the college's library.
The Illinois Community College Board has voted to close the college as of Jan. 1 after auditors found evidence of severe financial mismanagement and a lack of institutional planning.
