CHICAGO (AP) — A man who was shot just blocks away from where Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis was talking to reporters about recent violence has died.
A spokesman with the Cook County medical examiner's office says 20-year-old Reginald Myers died Saturday at an area hospital.
Myers was shot in the head as he rode in a car on Chicago's South Side Friday afternoon. Witnesses say the shooter fled on foot. No one is in custody in connection with Myers' death.
About half a mile away at the same time, Weis was holding a news conference about the recent spate of shootings.
Dozens of people have been shot since Wednesday, including at least six who have died.
Weis had chosen that location because four other people were shot there earlier Friday.
