DAVENPORT -- Two people were found dead Wednesday from suspected drug overdoses, police said Thursday.
Davenport Police Captain Dale Sievert said officers were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday to do a welfare check at a home in the 1600 block of Arlington Avenue. Responding fire crews forced entry into the residence and found two people deceased in a bedroom.
The people, who have not been identified, were transferred to Genesis East. Autopsies are pending.

Captain Sievert said no foul play is suspected and police believe the deaths may have been caused by drug overdoses.
Since the first of the year, he said Davenport police have responded to 17 life-threatening incidents involving heroin overdoses, two of which resulted in death. In many of the cases, he said, people were resuscitated after witnesses or loved ones alerted police.
Deaths involving heroin have increased 39 percent nationwide since 2012, according to a January 2015 statement from the Centers for Disease Control.
