William (Bill) M. McKinley Sr.

March 13, 1933-July 11, 2019

ANDALUSIA — William (Bill) M. McKinley Sr., 86, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Andalusia, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Mariposa Point of Mesa. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded; ashes will be placed at Phoenix National Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Celebration of Life for Mr. McKinley will be 4 to 8 p.m. Aug. 17 at Rock Island Moose, 4410 9th St., Rock Island.

Born March 13, 1933, son of James Orville and Gladys (Kinman) McKinley in Rock Island. He was first married to Neva Morber. Later, he married Beverly Joyce Bewley Nov. 28, 1981, in Aledo.

Bill worked for Farmall, Penny Ambulance Service in his early years, then transitioned to TriCity Blueprint Company as a repairman until their closing and assisted in establishing Quad-City Reprographics. He attended Rock Island High School; was an Army veteran of the Korean War, member of the Illinois National Guard, past member of New Windsor Rodeo Board, life member of Rock Island Moose 190, attended 1st Baptist Church of Aledo for many years, enjoyed riding Harleys with Earl Day, was an avid golfer and bowler, volunteered at Quad Cities Air Show, and annually attended New Windsor Rodeo.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce; sons, William Jr., Kevin (Julie) McKinley, daughters, Mary (Alan) Taulbee, Faith Dykes, Pauline Dick (Chuck), all of Quad-Cities; stepdaughters, Christine Palmer (Tony) of Mesa, Ariz., Kathy (Kurt) Gehn of Genesco, and Cynthia Miller of Payson, Ariz.; sister, Patricia DeSpain of Nashville, Tenn., Jack (Judy) McKinley of Milan; brother-in-law, Daryl (Mary) Bewley of Aledo; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Edward, Daniel, Thomas and Raymond; sister, Thelma Jean; and father-in-law, Jesse Bewley.
