ROCK ISLAND — Ronald L. Merideth, 75, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at the St. John's Medical Center in Springfield.

Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Peterson-Wallin-Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery, where graveside military services will be conducted. Visitation is 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home where a memorial fund will be established. Online condolences can be made at petersonwallinknox.com.

He was born April 3, 1944, in Davenport, to Harold and Rosamond Chandler Merideth. He graduated from AlWood High School.

Ron was a U.S. Vietnam Air Force veteran, serving as a Jet Mechanic in Thailand.

He married Carol Conway on Feb. 20, 1965, in Lovington, N.M. He later married Jennie Kessinger on June 3, 1972, in Galesburg.

He was employed as a truck driver and Diesel Mechanic for many years and was a member of the American Legion Post 32 in Springfield.

Survivors include one daughter, April Murphy, of Springfield; four sons, Jeffrey Merideth, of Everett, Wash., Dennis Merideth, of Dandridge, Tenn., Steve Merideth, of Summerville, S.C., Andrew Merideth, of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren; his mother, Rosamond Merideth, of Aledo; siblings, Miriam Green, of Lynn Center, Gene Merideth, of Aledo, Jerry Merideth, of Irving, Texas, Gary Merideth, of Carbondale; and several nieces and nephews.

His father and one sister, Sandra, preceded him in death.
