EAST MOLINE — Ramona “Jean” Ray, 90, of East Moline passed away July 4, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
Jean was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Seymour, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Hilda Haines Whitmore. She married Lewis L. “Joe” Ray on Nov. 15, 1947, in Centerville, Iowa. He passed away Oct. 15, 1999. Jean worked at various restaurants in the area, was a inhalation therapist at Illini Hospital for several years, and was a clerk at the Milan Auction Barn for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and working jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include her children Cherry (Steve) Harkness of Colona, Joe (Cathy) Ray of Woodhull, David Ray of Rock Island, and Mike (Jenn) Ray of Le Grand, Iowa; grandchildren, Troy (Deb) Harkness, Stephenie (Jon) Gellerstedt, Aimee Ray, Shaun Ray, Kelsey Ray and Chance Ray; great-grandchildren Sean Harkness and Jake, Hannah, and Britta Gellerstedt; brother-in-law, Bill Buckallew; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Jerry (Jennings) Green; and a sister, Sue Buckallew.
