Ralph was born Dec. 11, 1939, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Edward and Beatrice (Falout) Krippner. Intrepid pilgrim and lifelong learner, Ralph married Mary Mielke on June 9, 1962. In 1977, they settled in Moline. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a Historian.
Tapping into the graces of his Catholic faith, Ralph prayed daily mass and served as Eucharist minister, lector and server at funeral Masses. He enjoyed Bible studies and meetings with the GK Chesterton Society.
Ralph’s life motto was “Solvitur Ambulando” — it is solved by walking. Local adventures included all walking paths in town, RVing across the U.S. and daily trips to the YMCA and public library.
His passions were his five children; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his wife of 56 years. He was renowned for his generous hospitality, especially, Sunday brunch and his pun humor.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; children, Phil (Sue) Krippner, Utah, Cari (Cindy) Krippner, Washington, Kerstin (Paul) Cathcart, Oregon, Steve (Linda) Krippner, Washington, and Maggie (Kevin) Schoonmaker, Moline; and 10 grandchildren. Condolences may be left at www.RaffertyFunerals.com.
