ROCK ISLAND — Patricia Ann Prouty, 84, of Bolingbrook, formerly of Rock Island, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at her home. Funeral services for Patricia will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Knox Chapel of Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 2106 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Patricia was born May 21, 1934, in Burlington, Iowa, a daughter of Gilbert and Letha Watson Lynch. At the age of 9, she was adopted by C. Walter and Marge Orin. Patricia graduated from Ottumwa Heights and Black Hawk College. She married Ollie E. Prouty on May 27, 1961, in Moline. Ollie passed away on Dec. 8, 2014. Patricia was the first female Sheriff's Deputy in Rock Island County. She served as a Deputy Sheriff from 1970 to 1980. She retired from Deere and Co.'s general offices in 1993.
Patricia was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and had served on the Illowa Council of Boy Scouts. Patricia loved spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Randy (Debbie) Prouty; grandchildren, Nicole Prouty, Nicolas Prouty and Tiffany Prouty; three great-grandchildren; a stepson, Steve (Eunyce) Prouty; seven stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and many additional loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie; infant son, David Orin Hull; her parents; her brother, Douglas “Sonny” Tucker; and her sister, Dorothy Hearn; and her stepson, Jack Prouty.
At the request of Patricia, in lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital or your favorite charity be made in her memory.
