    1862 -- 150 years ago: No boys were expelled from Mr. Hardy's classroom last week or from any other school, as was stated in The Argus -- but we were so informed.

    1887 -- 125 years ago: The state encampment of the Illinois Department, Grand Army of the Republic, will convene in Rock Island tomorrow. Two thousand veterans are expected in the city.

    1912 -- 100 years ago: Charles A. Clark of Sherrard will seek a place in the Illinois legislature, subject to the Republican primaries this spring.

    1937 -- 75 years ago: After being checked, the supplemental grant of funds for the Moline Municipal Airport Project, approved yesterday by the WPA airport section, has been reduced to $105,980.

    1962 -- 50 years ago: The Board of Education of Orion Community District 223 authorized the purchase of a considerable amount of student furniture, along with several items of office equipment and some music equipment at its recent meeting.

    1987 -- 25 years ago: Hundreds of people gathered Sunday at Sunset Park, Rock Island, to watch bald eagles and other Mississippi River valley birds during Eagle Appreciation Week, sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America and the Illinois and Iowa Departments of Conservation. The conservation departments provided telescopes and presented programs on eagles at Sunset Park and the Modern Woodmen building

    near downtown Rock Island. Some people drove as far as 300 miles for the annual event.
