Layered Lettuce Salad

Ingredients

3 to 4 cups torn lettuce
1/2 cup chopped or ring-sliced red onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
8 ounces frozen peas, thawed
1/2 cup chopped celery
2 cups mayonnaise
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup crumbled crisp bacon (6 to 8 slices)

Instructions

In a 9x13-inch pan, layer half of lettuce, onion, green pepper, peas and celery.

Mix together mayonnaise and sugar and spread over layer. Then layer rest of lettuce, onion, pepper, peas and celery over mayonnaise mixture. Top with cheese and crumbled bacon. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight.
