Vanilla Orange Cookie Truffles

Ingredients

1 package (15 1/2 ounces) cream-filled golden sandwich cookies
2 tablespoons grated orange peel
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese softened
16 ounces almond bark (vanilla flavored candy coating) chopped

Instructions

Place cookies in food processor. Pulse until they reduce to fine crumbs. Mix cookie crumbs and orange peel. With a mixer beat together cookie crumbs and cream cheese until dough-like. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on cookie sheet lined with waxed paper. Freeze until firm. Melt candy coating in microwave or in a saucepan over low heat. Dip cookie balls in coating. Return to cookie sheet. Store in refrigerator.

1964 -- 50 years ago: Last night, American Legion Post 246 in Moline figuratively handed over the trousers to a female ex-Marine and petticoat rule began. Olga Swanson, of Moline, was installed as the first woman commander of the post .
1989 -- 25 years ago: The Illinois Quad City Civic Center captured the excitement and interest of a convention of auditorium managers this weekend in Reno, Nev. Bill Adams, civic center authority chairman, said the 10,000-seat arena planned for downtown Moline has caught the eye of construction firms, suppliers, management teams and concession groups.
