Banana Nut Bread

Ingredients

2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup shortening, softened
2 eggs
3 tablespoons buttermilk
1 cup mashed bananas
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup nuts

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two loaf pans. Cream together sugar, shortening and eggs. Stir in the buttermilk and mashed bananas. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add to the banana mixture, along with the nuts, and stir to combine. Pour into loaf pan; let stand 20 minutes before baking. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
