Chili for 50

This is a nice soup for your Christmas family get-together. I fix it every year for my family and it does not last long.

Ingredients

10 pounds hamburger
3 large white onions
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons black pepper
1 gallon can chili beans
6 46-ounce cans V-8 Juice
5 tablespoons chili powder (depending how hot you want it)
2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

Brown hamburger, onions, salt and pepper. Put into a large soup pan, add remaining ingredients, and cook on simmer for 3 hours.

Richard Evans, John Harris, George Crampton and William Getz, all of Moline, Charles Roberts, Rock Island, and Charles Johnson, of Hampton.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Indian summer is quickly disappearing as temperatures slide into the 40s and 50s this week. Last week, highs were in the 80s.
