Easiest and Best Coffee Cake

1 stick oleo or butter, melted, divided
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle
Nuts or coconut, if desired


Mix half the melted butter with sugar. Add egg, milk, flour and baking powder. Pour batter into a buttered, 8-inch square or 9-inchround pan. Pour remaining melted butter over the batter and sprinkle heavily with sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle with coconut and chopped nuts, if desired. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes.
