Frozen Salad

Ingredients

8-ounce package cream cheese
1/4 cup sugar
20-ounce can crushed pineapple, drained
10-ounce container frozen strawberries, with juices
2 bananas, sliced
8-ounce container whipped topping
1/2 cup chopped nuts, optional

Instructions

Blend cream cheese and sugar; set aside. Mix pineapple, strawberries, bananas, whipped topping and nuts (if using); then add the cream cheese mixture. Blend and spoon into a 9x13-inch pan. Freeze. To serve, thaw 30-45 minutes and cut into squares. Serve slightly frozen. This dish may be made several days in advance.

1964 -- 50 years ago: An application has been filed for a state permit to organize a savings and loan association in Moline, it was announced. The applicants are Ben Butterworth, A.B. Lundahl, C. Richard Evans, John Harris, George Crampton and William Getz, all of Moline, Charles Roberts, Rock Island, and Charles Johnson, of Hampton.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Indian summer is quickly disappearing as temperatures slide into the 40s and 50s this week. Last week, highs were in the 80s.
