Quick Almond Crunch

1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 cups slivered almonds
1/2 to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

In a heavy saucepan, melt butter. Stir in sugar, then add almonds. Stir constantly over medium heat until mixture is golden brown, about 10 - 15 minutes.
Pour onto ungreased cookie sheet and spread thinly. Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. When melted, spread evenly to glaze.
When chocolate is set, crack candy into pieces.Store in covered container in refrigerator.
