Angel Biscuits

Ingredients

1 package dry yeast
2 tablespoons lukewarm water
5 to 5-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup shortening
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon soda
2 cups buttermilk

Instructions

Dissolve yeast in water. Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Add yeast and buttermilk to dry mixture. Knead dough and roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out biscuits; fold each of them in half. Bake in a 400-degree oven for 15-20 minutes. Dough may be refrigerated or frozen for later use.
