The 1989 demolition of the former John Deere Plow Works marked the symbolic start of the Quad-Cities renaissance. In 1993 The Mark of Quad Cities' rose from the rubble and has been the epicenter of entertainment for the region ever since. Magic to Monster Trucks: 20 years of memorable moments. The iWireless Center has a rich history of entertainment apart from the musical acts which have performed in the building. The iWi has been the sight of numerous championship celebrations and historic winning streaks. The building has also been host to scores of Olympic champions in addition to NBA champions, Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus and the Harlem Globetrotters. Ever since the grand opening in 1993 the iWireless Center has been the epicenter of entertainment for the Quad-Cities area.

Easter vandal destroys Sacred Heart statue

The statue of Jesus Christ in front of Sacred Heart Church, on 5th Avenue in Rock Island, lays face down on Monday April 1, 2013 after it was vandalized at 9:21 p.m. Sunday. Rock Island police are currently reviewing security camera footage that shows a lone vandal knocking over the statue and then walking away.
