Quad City Music Guild will hold auditions for 9 to 5: The Musical at Prospect Park Auditorium, 1584 34th Ave., Moline. Times are 3-5:30 p.m. Feb. 16; noon-1:45 p.m. Feb. 17; 12:15-2:45 p.m. Feb. 23; callbacks Feb. 24 as needed. Bring sheet music with piano accompaniment included (no recorded accompaniment). You will be asked to sing from 16-24 measures. Songs from this show are welcome, particularly for the roles of Violet, Doralee, or Judy. Wear loose clothing that will allow movement. Those auditioning must be at least 16 years old, except for one male role of 15-18 years old. The show contains mature subject matter. The show will be produced Aug. 9-11 and 15-18. 1914 -- 100 years ago: Carlton Taylor was appointed district deputy grand master for the 14th

1939 -- 75 years ago: Moline's million dollar municipal airport was dedicated to air transportation and the national defense by Lt. Gov. John Stelle.
1964 -- 50 years ago: THE ARGUS will be election headquarters for Rock Island County tomorrow night, and the public is invited to watch the operation. The closing of the polls at 6 p.m. will mark the start of open house in the newsroom. Visitors will see staff members receiving, tabulating and posting returns.
1989 -- 25 years ago: Few bricks actually tumbled, but no one seemed to mind as about 1,000 people gathered to celebrate the formal start of demolition at the site of a downtown civic center.
