Event: Mississippi River Visitor Center
Date: Thursday, December 24, 2009 to Monday, December 24, 2012 The Mississippi River Visitor Center, Locks and Dam 15, Rock Island, is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except for Thanksgiving Day, from noon Dec. 24 through Dec. 25, and Jan. 1. The center is on the west end of Arsenal Island near the Government Bridge between Davenport and Rock Island. Watch towboats pass through the locks. Displays explain the process, and park rangers are available to answer questions. During the winter American bald eagles can be seen. Call (309) 794-5338 or email for details.
