Rockridge's Lingle sets Monmouth College home run mark
Comment on this story
Having carved out a fine collegiate career for herself with the Monmouth Fighting Scots after starring for the Rockridge softball team, Caitlin Lingle recently added to her resume.
Sunday at the Midwest Conference crossover tournament, the Scots' senior third baseman belted her 18th career home run, breaking the school record she had shared with Karen Friedrich and Jen Witmer. Lingle's record-setting round-tripper was part of a day in which Monmouth won all five of its crossover games.
The homer also gave her 100 career RBIs, only the second Monmouth player to achieve that feat. Friedrich, who played from 1981 to '84, holds the school record with 111 RBIs.
