The Quad City Singers will present "Sizzlin' Sounds" at their spring concert on April 25 at Lavender Crest Winery in Colona.

The Quad City Singers will present "Sizzlin' Sounds" at Lavender Crest Winery, Route 6, Colona, on Friday, April 25. The annual event will begin with appetizers at 6 p.m., followed by a concert at 7 p.m.

This year's program will feature jazz standards, along with choral arrangements of hits by The Beatles, Sting and Toto, among others. Small ensembles of group members will be performing popular songs as well.

"Quad City Singers have prepared a great collection of familiar music performed in unique arrangements," group director Lori Potts said recently. "The evening will be fun-filled and a different musical experience. Chef Kelly at Lavender Crest Winery has planned an array of gourmet appetizers for the evening."

Coffee, tea and lemonade will be provided; other beverages, including Lavender Crest's award-winning wines, will be available for purchase.

"Sizzlin' Sounds" also will include the presentation of the second Quad City Singers Distinguished Senior Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior in the Q-C area who plans to major in a discipline of music in college.

"We're so excited to be giving back to the community with this scholarship," said group member Sarah Lounsberry, noting this year's amount is $500. "Thanks to the generous donations from our patrons, we were able to double the amount of scholarship money this year. Our goal is to continue to increase the dollar amount, and hopefully award more than one per year."

Quad City Singers is accompanied by Marcia Renaud, and the evening will be hosted by Comedy Sportz's Jake Walker.

Admission, which includes appetizers, is $25 per person. Tables can accommodate 10 guests. Reservations are required by April 18 and can be made by visiting quadcitysingers.org or by calling Chris Castle at 309-764-2612.
