River Cleanup, Recycling, Rock n Roll on March 25 at BHC Ever wonder what its like to live on a barge and spend your days pulling garbage out of the water? Mike Coyne-Logan, a member of the Living Lands and Water crew for more than six years, will share his stories at a free event at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Black Hawk College. The program will include an overview of the history and mission of Living Lands and Waters and the importance of rivers and clean water. Although this is a free program, you must preregister at www.bhc.edu/rcrrr by Monday, March 24.
BHC offices closed March 10

All Black Hawk College offices will be closed Monday for Staff Development Day.

This closure does not affect non-credit classes scheduled for Monday. These classes will be held as scheduled.



Free citizenship class begins March 17 at BHC

Black Hawk College is offering a free two-week citizenship class beginning March 17.

The class will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, March 17-28, at the college's new Adult Learning Center, 4610 Blackhawk Commons Drive, Rock Island.

Registration will be at 8 a.m. March 17 at the center.

Prep for quality auditor exam with BHC course

Quality professionals can prepare for the certification exams by taking a prep course at Black Hawk College.

Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is an excellent way to prepare for the American Society for Quality CQA Certification Examination.

The class will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, March 18 to May 20, at the Outreach Center in East Moline. Cost is $675, which includes all materials.

Class examines small business marketing, ownership

Learn how to successfully run a small business with the Black Hawk College Small Business Certificate Program.

Two, three-hour classes are offered each Saturday at the Illinois workNet Center in Moline. Cost is $50 per class, which includes lunch.

The next classes are March 15:
9 a.m. – How to Market and Promote a Small Business
Noon – Business Ownership Structures and Taxes & Types of Business Insurance

Black Hawk College offers a variety of community education classes.

Seats are still available in the following classes:

Learn To Use Your Digital Camera for Seniors – Tuesdays, March 18 to April 1, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Cost is $36.
Beginning Sign Language – Tuesdays, March 18 to May 6, 6-8 p.m. Cost is $115.
French II - Conversation (Part 1) – Mondays and Wednesdays, March 19 to April 7, 6-8 p.m. Cost is $92.
Memories Past: Digging Up Your Ancestors' Past – Thursdays, March 20 to April 10, 6-8 p.m. Cost is $36.
Emailing Basics – March 24, 8:45-10:45 a.m. Cost is $18.
