Patricia M. Courtney, 70, of Hampton, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 10, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline, with a rosary recited by the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Sacred Heart Church or the American Heart Association.
Pat was born July 13, 1943, in Joliet, Ill., the daughter of Herbert "Bud" and Alice Pillion Atchison. She married Thomas Courtney on Oct. 16, 1965, at Sacred Heart Church, Moline.
Pat worked as an LPN at the former St. Anthony's Hospital, Rock Island, Moline Lutheran Hospital, Illini Hospital, Silvis, and later at Olston Home Care.
Pat was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Altar and Rosary Society. She was active in writing ministry, funeral luncheons, prayer chain, social activities committee, the New Spirit Singers and R.C.I.A. for 25 years at church. She was a member of Theta Choir, Legion of Mary, 500 Alleman Marathon and East Moline American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, scrapbooking and she especially looked forward to her girls day out group.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; daughter, Julianna (Bob) Castro, Davenport; son, Joseph Courtney, Chatham, Ill.; grandchildren, Elise, Lucas, Nathan, Nik, Nova and Charlee; sister, Dorrie (Mike) Pavich, Springfield, Ill.; and brother, Tom Atchison, LeClaire; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Atchison.
