Hattie F. Wolever, 91, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Cheri Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Erie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Arrangements were completed by McDonald Funeral Home, Prophetstown.
Hattie was born Feb. 14, 1923, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., daughter of Albert August and Bonnie Alice Stingley Freude. She graduated from Erie High School in 1941. She married Robert D. Wolever in 1940 in Missouri, and then later divorced.
She worked at Penberthy for 21 years, retiring in December 1988. Hattie also worked at Paul Carlson Insurance Agency, John Deere Defense, Microgear and Climco and also was a teacher of all grades in a country school.
She was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and AARP.
Hattie enjoyed reading and spending time with her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Patricia Crump, Prophetstown, and Barbara Israel, Chino Hills, Calif.; one son, Brett Wolever, Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Bea Wolever, Erie; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert; two sisters, Alberta and Bonnie; and two brothers, Albert and Jack.
