Flossie Mae McKinzie, 86, of Moline, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at St. Anthony's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rock Island.
Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 4309 Blackhawk Road, Rock Island. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the church.
Flossie was born July 16, 1927, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, daughter of Fred and Emma Coil Barns. She married Claude Herbert McKinzie on May 14, 1960, in Waukegan. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Flossie was a homemaker for most of her life and always taking care of others in need. She enjoyed crafting and her church.
Flossie loved Lighthouse Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended. She always had a smile on her face and spoke words of encouragement to everyone. No one will ever forget her hugs and how great it felt to receive one! Whenever she could, she would bake goodies, send cards and do so much for so many. Her outlook on life was great, and she loved her Lord, Jesus, so very much. She was fun, she was loved and she will be greatly missed by her church family.
Survivors include her daughter, Rose Ann Jaques, Sidney, Ohio; granddaughters, Sonia Lynn Fritz, Ora Ann Bowman; great-grandsons, Jesse and Jacob; great-great-grandson, Carter; and her lifelong friend, Jan Grimes, Moline, her son, Matthew Grimes, and her granddaughter, Emily.
In addition to her husband, her parents; a sister, Ella Ann Miller, and son-in-law, Jimmie Jaques, preceded Mrs. McKinzie in death.
