Rock Island High School teacher achieves National Board Certification

RIMSD #41 is proud to announce that another teacher has earned National Board Certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) – science teacher Laura Vroman at Rock Island High School. Ms. Vroman is a 1998 Rock Island High School graduate and received her B.A. in Biology from Augustana College and her Masters from Ohio State University in Entomology.

National Board Certification is one of the highest honors a teacher can receive. Certification is a yearlong process in which teachers submit portfolios that include student work, assignments, videos, and a thorough analysis of classroom teaching. Additionally, National Board candidates take six assessments on their knowledge in their subject area.

The Rock Island-Milan School District now has a total of eight National Board Certified Teachers:
Julie Black (Washington Junior High School)
Sylvia Elliott (Rock Island Center for Math & Science)
Deb Feddersen (Longfellow Liberal Arts)
Lynn Keck (Ridgewood Elementary)
Jeff Martin (Rock Island Center for Math & Science)
Susan Meredith (Edison Junior High School)
Tara Niemeier (Longfellow Liberal Arts)
Laura Vroman (Rock Island High School)
