Dale Owen named permanent Ascentra president and CEO

BETTENDORF – Ascentra Credit Union's board of directors has named Dale Owen as president and CEO. He has been serving as interim CEO for 90 days.

Before becoming interim CEO after the death of Paul Lensmeyer, Mr. Owen was executive vice president and chief lending officer since he joined the credit union in 1999.

He has the certified chief executive (CCE) designation from the Credit Union Executive Society and graduated from the CUES CEO institutes at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, and The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Owen has a master's of public administration from Drake University, Des Moines, and a bachelor's in public administration from Augustana College, Rock Island.

He is president of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation, on the Quad City DollarWise board, the Augustana College Alumni board and is on the Federal Home Loan Bank MPF National Advisory Council.

He has served on the CMGMI National Insight Panel, Iowa Credit Union League Payday Lending Task Force, is past president and board member of the Great River Chapter of Credit Unions, past treasurer and board member of the Davenport Neighborhood Housing Service and past board member for the Quad City Credit Association.

He also has volunteered for The Children's Miracle Network, Junior Achievement, United Way, the Boys & Girls Club and Bethany for Children & Families.

Founded in 1950, Ascentra Credit Union has more than $320 million in assets and 10 branches serving Bettendorf, Clinton, Davenport, Le Claire, Muscatine, and Moline.
