Prep softball
United Township 11, Geneseo 1 (6 inn.): Playing just their 13th game of the season, the UTHS Panthers dispatched the Maple Leafs in just six innings. The Panthers started off hot, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning and added eight more in the third. Brooke Prior (8-1) got the pitching win for the Panthers. Prior also had a pair of hits, including a triple, and drove in a pair of runs. Mackenzie Gustafson had a trio of hits, including a home run, and drove in four for the Panthers. Darrian Gillette led the Maple Leafs with three hits, including a double.

Sherrard 7, Rock Island 5: The Tigers scored four first-inning runs and never looked back in their nonconference victory over the Rocks. Carly Adams knocked in a pair of Tiger runs and had a double. Kylee Villareal had a pair of hits for Rock Island, and Brie Hart had a double and knocked in three runs.

Alleman 6, La Salle-Peru 2: The Alleman Pioneers rode Maddie McGuire's three hits and three RBIs to their 15th victory. Her big blast was a two-run, first-inning home run. Isabell Anderson also tallied three hits, and Chasney Jenkins had two to back pitcher Dakota Stout's winning efforts.

Riverdale 5, Bureau Valley 4: The Riverdale Rams needed seven innings to defeat Bureau Valley, scoring the game-winner in the top of the seventh. Sadie Mosher struck out 16 Storm batters and allowed just one walk as all four of her runs were unearned because of four Ram errors. Chloe Sullivan had a big day at the plate with a double and a triple and four RBIs.

Normal West 6, Moline 3: Playing in what could end up being the decision maker for the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Class 4A Normal Community Regional, the hosting Maroons were upended by Normal West. Matt Brill had a pair of hits for Moline — a double and a home run — and drove in a pair of runs. The loss halted Moline's winning streak at eight games.

Alleman 6, United Township 4: Alleman bounced back from its first defeat of the season by beating Western Big 6 Conference rival UTHS in a nonconference battle at Gerard's Yard. Taner Ledezma had a fifth-inning, game-winning two-run home run for the Pioneers, one of his three hits. Sean Wetherell, Sam Lootens and Kevin O'Keeffe each rapped out a pair of hits for Alleman. United Township's Connor Gunneman had three hits, one of which was a home run, and a pair of RBIs.

Erie-Prophetstown 6, Newman 5: Jordan Chandler pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing one run and one hit in picking the victory. He struck out two, but had three walks. Ken Cole had a home run and two RBIs, and Owen McConnell led the team with two hits. Chandler also had two RBIs.

United Township 3, Morton 2: It wasn't about the quantity of shots taken, but the quality. United Township made the most of its five shots on goal in the victory, while Morton had seven. Katie Johnson scored the game-winning goal with a minute to play. Alora Esparza and Sagima Munoz scored UT's other goals. Emily Robinson had two assists for UT.

Orion-Sherrard 9, DePue 0: On Orion-Sherrard's senior night, all nine goals and their six assists were tallied by seniors. Mallerie West led O-S with a hat trick and also logged one of those assists.
