Maxine M. Specht, 85, formerly of Tampico, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico, with Monsignor Thomas L. Dzeilak, pastor, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m on Thursday at the church, with rosary recited at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Tampico. A memorial has been established to Vitas Hospice in lieu of flowers.
Maxine was born on July 1, 1927, in Tampico, the daughter of Clyde and Mildred (Frank-Brooks) Denison. She was united in marriage to Arnold "Joe" Specht on Feb. 10, 1945, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1992. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tampico, and she loved to garden.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Gladfelter, Prophetstown; one son, Larry Joe (Krista) Specht, Tampico; four grandchildren, Lori Dixon, Athens, Ill., Bobi Jo Majeski, Prophetstown, Alex Joe Specht, Chicago, Mallory Blair Specht, Prophetstown; two great-grandsons, Jeremy and Joshua Majeski, Prophetstown; two sisters, Terry (George) Blackert, Prophetstown, Helen (Lester) Joynt, Dixon, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and one sister.
