A trio of Lincoln Trail Conference student-athletes have decided where their collegiate futures lay.

Annawan High School senior Michael Smith is headed to Monmouth College to continue his football career with the Fighting Scots. A standout lineman for the Annawan-Wethersfield co-op, Smith was an Illinois Football Coaches Association All-State pick this past fall and was a first team All-LTC on both sides of the ball.

With Smith helping to pave the way, the Titans went 10-2 -- one of those losses was to eventual Class 2A state champion and LTC rival Mercer County -- and reached the 2A quarterfinals.

In girls' basketball, Galva forward Alex Strom and ROWVA guard Haylee Swanson are both taking their games to Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. Strom will also compete for the CSC volleyball team.

Strom, a first-team All-LTC pick, averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks per game and finished with over 1,000 career points. Swanson was a second-team all-conference pick for the 15-13 Lady Tigers.
